Testimonials

Over the last 3 years YCL has carried out a variety of challenging conservation tasks on textiles for The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regimental Museum in Stirling Castle, due to reopen in early 2021. We are delighted with the great care and detailed work that has been carried out that will preserve a number of iconic items in The Argylls’ collection of national importance for many years to come.

I found your service excellent in every way, you were informative about what restoration should be carried out to those precious little Lorimer 18th century samplers that a previous generation unfortunately had glued to cardboard and why it was advisable. You explained the procedures and processes that were involved clearly and you found appropriate new frames for the samplers so that they could return to the Drawing Room at Kellie Castle and hang happily alongside other needlework pictures collected by the family.
I am very grateful for all your help, needlework has been a family interest for some generations!

At long last we got the finished sampler yesterday from the framer!!!!! I just wanted to let you know how pleased we were with it. It looks now as it was when I remember it when it hung on my Gran's wall. My Aunt's cigarette smoke did not help it after she got it!!!!
I am delighted with your work. I certainly did not think I would see it looking so well.
